On arrival at Vomo Island, we were met by Wayne, the General Manager before being taken to our gorgeous room (Beachfront Villa). Vomo Island, in contrast to Navutu Stars really does offer a truly sleek 5 star resort.
The best way to arrive at this resort is by helicopter. Although we took the boat option, we did see many guests arriving and departing by helicopter, and this would certainly offer an amazing view over the Mamanuca islands. The rooms were beautifully designed and offered a luxurious and stylish feel with all the mod cons you would expect from a 5 star resort. Vomo Island is a great option for families or for those who want a bit more going on. There are plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained. I was really impressed with the kids club and all the space it offered with a large outdoor grassy area. Children and adults can visit the turtle sanctuary where they breed and house the hawksbill turtles before releasing them back out to the sea when they are big enough – we were kept quite happy watching the turtles being fed and looked after. Other activities include a gym, and lots of water sports: kayaking, paddle boarding, diving, windsurfing, sailing and fishing. We really enjoyed playing on the pitch and putt golf course, but just make sure you wear plenty of sunscreen, because despite the fact that it was overcast and raining, we still managed to get sunburnt!
Although there is so much to do on this idyllic Fijian island, Vomo also offers a very relaxing environment. There is a spa with a couple of little treatment rooms if you really need help to unwind. I hear there are plans to expand and improve the Spa. Vomo is a great island to wander around and explore, and it felt incredibly safe. The beaches around the island are all stunning – amazing soft white sand. Vomo Lailai is the little neighbouring island which is a great spot to be taken for a private picnic. The main restaurant (Reef Restaurant) is located around the swimming pool, in the heart of the resort.
We were both really impressed with the high standard and quality of the food. It was consistently excellent and perhaps probably the best cuisine we ate while we were in Fiji! In the evenings, they place coloured lights around the pool which creates a stylish and funky ambience. The staff were all so welcoming and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. On our departure some of the staff all gathered around to sing us the Farewell Song and I actually felt quite emotional and very sad to be leaving. Our one night here just wasn’t long enough. I would definitely return to this fabulous 5 star island resort.

What a sweet little resort it is! We were very warmly welcomed by Brendon and Steve (General Managers) and enjoyed the Fiji Welcome Song. Once we had gone through the check-in formalities with a coconut drink in hand, we were taken to our room (a Beachfront Bure). The room was incredibly spacious and I loved the beachfront location. It was very special to be able to walk straight out of our room and into the turquoise sea. We then enjoyed a fabulous 20-minute welcome massage – this was greatly appreciated and helped us to unwind and settle into the calm pace of Navutu Stars.
As you so rightly described, this resort offers a rustic chic style and is an ideal choice for couples and particularly honeymooners. I think the majority of other guests staying there at that time were on their honeymoon! As the resort provides an intimate setting, despite many guests being on their honeymoon, everyone seemed to socialise with one another which created a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. While we were there, the owners returned with their baby (I think he was about 8 months old). As this was the baby’s first visit to Navutu Stars we were invited to a traditional Kava ceremony with all the staff from the resort. It felt very authentic, rather than just being laid on for the tourists and so we felt very lucky.
There were lots of great activities on offer each day, including kayaking, village visits, snorkelling trips, volleyball, hiking trails and basket weaving – so there is plenty to do. I was quite content to make the most of the hammock outside of our Bure and enjoy the peace and tranquillity!

At Vomo, the staff really go the extra mile ensuring everyone feels welcome. The gentleman, Wayne their GM did a really good job ensuring he spoke to everyone every day and checking that people were happy. He had a really nice way with people and the ability to relate well to anyone, child or adult.
The bures are spacious and well appointed, with music systems, wifi. Really good size bathrooms with spa baths too. There were nice special touches like the aroma lamps in the evening and flowers everywhere. The bures are not fully private from each other, but size of the whole island means that during the day, you don’t really see your neighbors that much.
They also have a good selection of activities (glass bottom kayaks etc etc), good quality gear and enough of things like snorkels. The snorkeling right off the beach is great too and you don’t need to go on the organised trips to see some funny coloured fish. At a low tide, it is less than 100% perfect to get into the water, but still doable. However, they probably should not be advertising diving too loudly, as they do not operate this themselves and hence only offer it on one day a week.
The food was really excellent - not something I would have expected in Fiji! The selection was great, and taste just wonderful. It was also nice to notice that they were not taking the mickey with the drinks prices.
What comes to service, I have to say that overall it was excellent.
In a summary, I’d say it is a really lovely luxurious resort especially catering for the family market with their turtle club. 90% of the people there at the same time with us were families with small children. This is of course something to keep in mind when dealing with couples as they do only have one pool.
So Debbie, million million thanks again for organising this. We really needed a wee break and loved it.
Thanks,
Sanna McCulloch

Now that I have got my feet back under the desk I wanted to send you an official thank you for looking after me so well at Qamea. It was great revisiting your fine establishment and spending more time to digest all the goodies - to be perfectly honest my experience at Qamea was beyond expectations. I remembered the beach from last time and I had a rough idea of the set up overall but I have to say the enhancements and appointments are a credit to you and Bryce. I think the mix of accommodation is great across the board from the bures overlooking and near the beach to the honeymoon bures and villa and the beach houses with their private pools and extra space etc. I was actually pleasantly surprised with the space in the regular bures alone! I love the ’shabby barefoot chic’ feel of Qamea complimented by its traditional Fijian style , intimate, relaxed ambiance and the established feel of the grounds and surroundings. I have to say the beach at Qamea is a real bonus especially when you compare it with the other resorts I stayed at in and around Taveuni and Savusavu. The fit out is excellent and our clients love those little extras like the outdoor showers, day beds and of course the plunge pools and also the private dining options available especially on the beach! I like the flow of the bar and restaurant areas and in particular the verandah. I want to thank you and the Qamea team for making my Fijian travels such a great experience and without doubt one of the highlights.

Bobbie and Peter, this is so overdue, but a huge thank you for hosting my fab Melbourne based BFF and I at Edenhouse in April. It was quite a road trip Jo and I did through the country and as always you made me so welcome. Lots of laughs over a fabulous dinner, and the alterations on the Cottage look fabulous. Classy and sophisticated decor updates as only we have come to expect of Bobbie!
- Love and kisses to the both of you, Karine (driver) & Jo (co-driver).

Hi Karine,
I just wanted to say a huge thank you to you and the Navigate team for organising my stay the Te Vakaroa Villas in Rarotonga. Nick and his team were so welcoming and looked after us amazingly for the week. The villas are very well appointed I wouldnt hesitate in sending our clients to the property. I checked out all other accommodation on the island and these villas are without doubt the best!!! The location is great we hired paddle boards right out in front and I would argue the best beach on the island is only a ten minute paddle away. It is secluded out of the wind and the swimming amazing!! I had dinner right next door a couple of times at Sails which was great so all in all a great holiday!! Thanks again we love the property I loved Rarotonga and will do everything we can to book it!!

A BIG thank you to Navigate and Kylie and Warwick for organising a very memorable stay for my partner and I at the Bolton Hotel in Wellington!! From the moment we arrived we felt well taken care of by the very helpful and friendly staff, the service really was excellent. Our room was so spacious and comfortable that we decided to stay in (shame on us for not exploring Wellington’s fantastic culinary scene…)! Breakfast at Artisan, The Bolton’s new inhouse restaurant, was fantastic, the restaurant is so inviting and the food was fabulous. The location of the hotel is superb with the city highlights on your door stop to explore, this really is the place to stay on any visit to Wellington. Thanks again to the team at The Bolton for a fantastic stay – we will be back!!

The lodge is tucked away in a lovely setting overlooking the land and sea. The views are particularly beautiful from the 2 Bedroom Suite and the sunny main deck is fantastic for evening drinks and breakfast. It is very quiet and peaceful and within a walking distance to the beach; the walk to Cooks Beach is shorter than the walk to Lonely Bay Beach and perhaps a little easier for older guests. 970 Lonely Bay is approximately 30 minutes drive from Whitianga, where the main restaurants are; however the lodge offers dinner with a 24 hours notice or the wonderful host will take you to the ferry landing where you can catch a 3 minute ferry transfer to Whitianga. The ferry service is continuous and it is quite fun to catch the old ferry to dinner, the boat has great character and we didn’t think our travel to the restaurant was a problem at all. The lodge is beautifully appointed, elegant, new and clean; all spaces are very bright with lots of light coming through all day. Loring, the host, is delightful: very helpful, knowledgeable of the area and full of great stories! As the lodge is a very intimate, boutique property, I think it would be at its best when taken for exclusive use to guarantee privacy to the guests.

Recently I had the opportunity to visit the Navigate Oceania property at 970 Lonely Bay on the Coromandel Peninsula. What a superb property! I was met by the delightful manager Loring and taken on a guided tour of the house which includes three one bedroom suites, and one two bedroom suite all of which have ensuites. Most rooms give way to an outside balcony and there is a fabulous amount of private areas in which guests can relax in both inside and outside. A short distance away across a bridge and nearby reserve you find yourself at the northern end of beautiful Cook’s Beach. Loring had been doing some baking and we were very spoilt in being able to try her plum tart and lemon gin cake! I would thoroughly recommend this property for a stay on the Coromandel Peninsula.

My stay at Edenhouse was more than over the top. I do not remember being so well looked after in all of my travels in New Zealand. I love Peter and Bobbie. They just could not do enough for me. I was so sad leaving them and my stay was way too short. I loved my accommodation at their House. The room was so beautiful I did not want to leave my room.
Peter made certain that I would have a good experience in the Nelson area and he went beyond the call of duty personally escorting my friend Susan and I around the Nelson area including making special arrangements to spend time with us on our free day doing an Abel Tasman Cruise.
I know from first hand experience that although far too short, any clients I will continue to sent to Edenhouse will have the same wonderful experience I had and know how well looked after my clients will be during the stay.
I only wish I could have stayed two nights at Edenhouse. Peter and Bobbie are the perfect hosts and take such pride and passion in what they do in welcoming their guests. Especially nice too, is their joining of their guests for dinner.
