The lodge is tucked away in a lovely setting overlooking the land and sea. The views are particularly beautiful from the 2 Bedroom Suite and the sunny main deck is fantastic for evening drinks and breakfast. It is very quiet and peaceful and within a walking distance to the beach; the walk to Cooks Beach is shorter than the walk to Lonely Bay Beach and perhaps a little easier for older guests. 970 Lonely Bay is approximately 30 minutes drive from Whitianga, where the main restaurants are; however the lodge offers dinner with a 24 hours notice or the wonderful host will take you to the ferry landing where you can catch a 3 minute ferry transfer to Whitianga. The ferry service is continuous and it is quite fun to catch the old ferry to dinner, the boat has great character and we didn’t think our travel to the restaurant was a problem at all. The lodge is beautifully appointed, elegant, new and clean; all spaces are very bright with lots of light coming through all day. Loring, the host, is delightful: very helpful, knowledgeable of the area and full of great stories! As the lodge is a very intimate, boutique property, I think it would be at its best when taken for exclusive use to guarantee privacy to the guests.

Recently I had the opportunity to visit the Navigate Oceania property at 970 Lonely Bay on the Coromandel Peninsula. What a superb property! I was met by the delightful manager Loring and taken on a guided tour of the house which includes three one bedroom suites, and one two bedroom suite all of which have ensuites. Most rooms give way to an outside balcony and there is a fabulous amount of private areas in which guests can relax in both inside and outside. A short distance away across a bridge and nearby reserve you find yourself at the northern end of beautiful Cook’s Beach. Loring had been doing some baking and we were very spoilt in being able to try her plum tart and lemon gin cake! I would thoroughly recommend this property for a stay on the Coromandel Peninsula.

I was so sad leaving them and my stay was way too short. I loved my accommodation at their House. The room was so beautiful I did not want to leave my room.

Peter made certain that I would have a good experience in the Nelson area and he went beyond the call of duty personally escorting my friend Susan and I around the Nelson area including making special arrangements to spend time with us on our free day doing an Abel Tasman Cruise.

I know from first hand experience that although far too short, any clients I will continue to sent to Edenhouse will have the same wonderful experience I had and know how well looked after my clients will be during the stay.

I only wish I could have stayed two nights at Edenhouse. Peter and Bobbie are the perfect hosts and take such pride and passion in what they do in welcoming their guests. Especially nice too, is their joining of their guests for dinner.

We arrived in the middle of the night so we didn’t get to see our beautiful surroundings until the morning. I rushed to the door to check out the view and was blown away by the beauty. What I saw looked like a postcard - the villa opens up on to the pool which then blends with the lagoon behind it. This is the perfect place to relax - the villas are luxurious and have everything you could possibly need. The location is ideal and there is plenty to do within walking distance. The staff were warm and friendly and the intimate size of the resort makes it feel like your own private space. I would highly recommend a stay at Te Vakaroa Villas!!

The location, the house itself, the very engaging and charming hosts, the stunningly beautiful art work.. (even the tea !!) was out of this world.

Going through the house I felt Zen, though quite emotional at the same time by so much beauty.
This is no glitter and glamour but pure elegance with a very subtle underlayer of luxury. This is definitely a very rare jewel!

I have been sending my clients here for years, and they always came back raving! After having been able to experience it myself, I know exactly why! The setting is fantastic. Overlooking a beautiful beach, you really can’t beat the views. The rooms themselves are inviting and warm and the nautical theme can be found in every last wonderful detail.

Jonathan, your lovely host while at the hotel, has even expanded by adding in two bungalow type rooms. They are meant to represent the batch homes that many Kiwis remember from their childhood. However, these new creations exude style and comfort. Jonathan has also expanded his lovely garden, which provides many ingredients to The Boatshed’s fantastic gourmet meals. Keep on the look out for the latest coming attraction: He soon plans to add a vintage caravan and turn it into a game room for his guests to enjoy!

Thanks again to the lovely ladies Navigate Oceania for making this visit possible!
