Waipoua Lodge, Waipoua Forest

I recently stayed at the Waipoua Lodge near the Kauri Forest. As a travel agent I was always hoping to find a perfect stay near the magnificent Kauri Forest area in Northland. It makes the journey for all our guests much easier and relaxed instead of travelling straight through to the Bay of Islands. The carefully restored character building has a warm and welcoming interior.
The host and staff of the lodge gave us a very warm welcome and we enjoyed relaxing in the well appointed and equipped suites. Dinner was delicious and in time to get on a guided spiritual journey through the giant Kauri Forest. After a good nights sleep I enjoyed a bush walk at the bottom of the house. It was a great start to the morning. In the end I would have liked to stay another night to be able to explore the area a little better and maybe get a chance to see Kiwis in the wild at the Traunson Park Forest. Next time!

Dear Veronika
I finally found out what I wanted to do when I grew up - many years after my career started - and that is showcase NZ to the world, just like yourself.
Waipoua is a precious part of this beautiful country, and showcases the best of our native fauna, maori guides, ancient kauri forests and some of the best golden sand beaches in NZ. On top of that we have the exclusive opportunity to see kiwi in the wild and spend precious time in nature. As an original homestead, the lodge offers a glimpse into the history of NZ while equipped with modern luxuries overlooking 30,000 ha of forest.
We thoroughly enjoyed having the three of you stay with us, and you are most welcome back at any time to see those kiwi, so lets hope we get that opportunity.
Smiles, Nicole
